Annie Murtagh-Monks Casting Consultants Perth WA
Annie formed her own independent casting consultancy for Film and Television, Annie Murtagh-Monks and Associates in 1993.
Annie co-founded, organises and runs - under the auspices of Perth Actors Collective advanced workshops - PAC Screen Workshops. Unique in the world when initially started in 1992, these bring together professional actors, directors and screenwriters into the one workshop where they are given a practical understanding of how to create memorable screen drama together.
In 2004 /2005 Annie has devised a new technique V.T.L. (Visual Thought Learning) which enables actors to learn lines extremely quickly and assists in their screen performance. She utilised VTL with the lead cast of the TV series ‘Streetsmartz’ which enabled them each week to film a 26 minute episode in one day instead of the usual 4-5. Research into the effectiveness of this new technique VTL and the role memory plays in actors’ performances will form part of her doctorate study which Annie is undertaking part time at Murdoch University. In 2005, Annie founded and co-ordinates PAC Script Lab, bi-monthly rehearsed readings of West Australian feature film scripts. These have been sponsored by ScreenWest for 3 years running.
